Renovation & Repairs List - The Auld Kirk, Tayport

The committee have agreed to take the following first steps:

  1. Arrange for an extensive Survey of the Building.

  2. Contract an Architect.

The following list is a compilation of possible works identified, which is not extensive, all of which would require funding:

Downstairs

  • Weather Vane replaced & repair to the tower (water penetrating)

  • Repair & Renovation of Stain Glass Windows (2)

  • Repair of other windows and replacement window guards.

  • Re-wiring Main Building (to include Display lighting System & Fire Alarm System)

  • Heating and Ventilation (Engineer to do survey).

  • Clear False Ceiling separating central open area.

  • Burglar Alarm System.

  • Flooring (level & ramps)

  • Fire Doors (2) & Replace Entrance Door

  • Toilets – Renovation and rewiring (install disabled)

  • Kitchen / Bar Area.

  • Kitchen Equipment (Cooker/ Fridge/ Various smaller equipment and utensils)

  • Staging (use staging sections or re-do with wood in more traditional style)

  • Alterations to pews (area of booths / work stations)

  • Treatment of damp walls.

  • Re-tuning and repair of organ (pointed out by D. Gibson)

  • Redecoration.

 Upstairs

  • Office area.

  • Alteration of floor levels

  • Safety Barriers.

  • Treatment of areas of damp on walls

  • Computers and related equipment.

  • Display Units etc.

  • Heating Install

  • Electric points and lighting.

  • Creation of Storage areas.

  • Additional Fire Escape (if required)

  • Redecoration.

External

  • Re-pointing & Painting

  • External lighting on building

Grounds – (Which are the responsibility of Fife Council)

  • Pathways

  • Railings.

  • Pathway

  • Lighting.

  • Gates – repair and maintenance (Both main entrances).

Roof
A contractor has already been commissioned to carry out inspection and repair for an identified problem area (Funding for this is in place).  Further works may be required.

As you can see the list of required repairs and improvements is extensive, and expensive.
Whilst any Donations of Funds to the 'Auld Kirk Charitable Trust' will of course be welcomed, we would also be pleased to hear from anyone interested in helping the Committee with their work, or coming forward with ideas and information.
